Camping at San Simeon

This week was so fun for so many reasons! First it was so good to be with old friends. We all started our families at the same time, the kids have known each other from the very beginning, and it's great to see them reunite and pick up right where we left off. Second, it was true rest for us, totally turned off from all technology, we were outside all day every day with no schedule, with people we love. Last but not least, it was somewhat COLD! Hallelujah, I wore jeans and layered sweatshirts every day, drank hot tea, snuggled under sleeping bags and piled blankets each night, it was pure bliss for me.
The kids had varied forts and "clubs" they created that moved several times once they felt infiltrated by the adults. Their forts were increasingly hidden from us throughout the week. They played together so well.

It doesn't matter how old we get, it's always fun to do each other's hair.

Girls united.

Jonah's stuffed animal Frolic's birthday happened to land on our first day of camping. Thank goodness he didn't mind celebrating outdoors. Davey's stuffed cow "Rainbow" has a birthday tomorrow, and we're going to celebrate with a trip to the waterslide park. These birthdays are exhausting.

A shared moment on the beach with my Davey. This is the one afternoon I ventured into shorts, I totally should've worn jeans.

This is SO FUN to clean out of the buns later with a cold shower. Davey thought it was totally worth it.

Jonah was first shocked and then very angry with his mermaid body that Travis made him. We thought it was hilarious:).

We roasted every night, I love smores.

The Ladies

The boys. We asked the boys to get closer together. I believe this pose was Trav's idea.

When and where will we be next year for our trip? Let the fun begin!!
