Our Jonah

I know this isn't the most flattering picture, but I just love that he's always sleeping like this at some point on a road trip:).
He is a diverse little boy, always keeping us on our toes, always full of new ideas.  There is never a dull moment.
Enjoy the latest tales of our Jonah, I'm sure there will be more to come!

The Car Exchange

What up with gas prices?  It is not making it easy on our one income budget.  I knew that Trav and I switching cars was always an option in keeping our gas expenses down.  I ignored it best I could until it started costing over $70 to fill the Pilot.  Something had to be done.
We made the switch, and there was a little life lesson in it for me.  I wish I could learn it and still drive my Pilot.  But that would mean I didn't learn the lesson very well...

Two Please

I imagine no matter how many kids you have, whether it's 2, 3, 4, etc, take one away for a short time, and it's just easier.  When I have pockets of time with just two of my children I am more chill and have more energy for activities that would normally overwhelm me with three.  I tap into my "fun" mom persona that I wish I could do more easily with all three.  I'm working on it.
This spring Trav is planning an overnight camping trip with the boys and Payton and I get a girls' night together.  We'll switch it up next time and Payton will have an adventure with her Daddy, and I'll get me some boy time.  I'm always happy to be reunited with my three, but I do enjoy the different experiences I get when the numbers are changed up.  I think the kids do too.

The Red Sweatshirt

Ahhh, the sweatshirt.  If you live by us, chances are you have seen Payton in this garment.
It's her fave.
It's not my fave.
It's none of my business what she wears really right?  I mean, as long as she's modest and all.  But it's still hard for me to let it go.  For every time I speak to her about what she's wearing, there's fifteen thoughts I don't share, maybe twenty.
Sometimes I feel indignant that she doesn't realize how cool I AM being about her clothing choices.  One day she'll understand, when she's thirty seven and has a little whipper snapper of a girl like herself.
I'm still learning this mothering game, specifically how to carry myself in a clothing war with my daughter.  But I'm getting better, truly.
